Best buddies blows away crowd with “Moonboy”
Best Buddies preformed “Moonboy” for students and parents April 28 and 29. Callie Sandahl ’17 and Caroline Ludwig ’17 were best buddies members in charge of the play. Production was possible due to help from special education teacher Heath Pattshull. Tickets cost five dollars and all proceeds went to the senior plus program, instructed by Pattshull.
The play consisted of 30 peer buddies and 26 special education students. “Moonboy’s purpose is to show the community what students in special education classrooms are capable of doing, and spreading how they are learning about working skills and being on their own in a community,” Sandahl said.
Preparation started after winter break, as students in special education classes had to create props and learn lines. “Moonboy” was a re-write of the play “Moongirl,” preformed two years ago by best buddies. Due to the stage being occupied by “Seussical,” the cast of “Moonboy” was only able to practice on stage the week of the performance.
