The boys cross country team finished sixth in the varsity race and fifth in the junior varsity (JV) race in the team’s most recent meet at the Indianola Invitational Sept. 21. In the varsity race, they only finished seven points behind fifth placed Valley. They also had a severely depleted squad with most of the best runners getting ready for the big Roy Griak and Mounds View meets in Minnesota this weekend.

Many young team members had solid races for the team with Karson Kleve ‘20 leading the charge for Johnston finishing 13th with a time of 18:34 and was Johnston’s leading varsity runner for the entire race. Carter Borwick ‘21 had a breakout race finishing 26th and a personal record time of 18:39 which was 13 seconds faster than his previous best time.
