COVID-19 Weekly Update

Theron Luett, News Brief Editor

As a step towards the fight against COVID-19, Biden is preparing to make 400 million N95 masks available across the United States this week, according to USA Today. Proven to offer the highest form of protection, especially against the latest COVID-19 variant, Omicron, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) urge people to start wearing N95 masks. Compared to regular cloth masks, N95 masks work to filter both small and large COVID-19 particles from entering through a person’s airways. Along with sending out masks, the Biden Administration has planned to send out free rapid COVID-19 tests to each state. Each household will receive four rapid tests. Johnston has also increased their COVID-19 resources available to the community by setting up free rapid COVID-19 testing sights around Johnston. Rapid tests can be found at Walgreens, Hy-Vee, and CVS pharmacies. As COVID-19 cases surge throughout the United States, tests are becoming harder to find.
