Although the varsity volleyball team won the first two sets against Dowling Catholic Oct. 14, they could not close the match with a win. The Dowling Catholic Maroons won the last three sets on the Dragons’ senior night and Dig Pink/Spike Blue event.

“I think the energy throughout the game was the key component to why Dowling won,” senior libero Keely Larkin said. Larkin went on to mention that the Dragons seemed to not know how to respond to the energy the Maroons were giving off in a positive way.

“Even when we were ahead, they still had more energy than us,” assistant coach Lacey Fulton said.

Head coach Rick Brooks called for a meeting instead of practice Wednesday after the game. There they talked about looking forward and the goals the team had for the rest of the season. “It was a wake up call for the team to realize we had some things to work on to accomplish all of our goals leading up to the state tournament,” senior Gabby Ledesma said.
