Girls Basketball wins against Iowa City High, go onto face Waukee in state championship

The Johnston Girls Basketball team played Iowa City High on Thursday, Mar. 5. at Wells Fargo Arena. The girls came into the match up hot after a win over Southeast Polk on Monday, Mar. 2. Iowa City High had only lost one game before their match with Johnston. At the beginning of the first quarter, Johnston was surging with Anna Gosling scoring the first 7 points for Johnston. Johnston started to fall stagnant near the end of the first quarter and finished 5 points behind Iowa City High. but when the second quarter came around Johnston came surging back and by the end of the first half, the score was 32 Johnston – 31 Iowa City High. After that Johnston was able to hold onto the lead and take the win 71 Johnston – 61 Iowa City High.
Johnston plays Waukee on Friday, Mar. 6 at Wells Fargo Arena for the state title.
