The midterm elections are held every four years, during the midpoint of a president’s four year term. During each midterm, all 435 seats in the House of Representatives are up for re-election, along with any senator seats that are at the end of their six year term. Other races such as the election of attorney general, secretary of state, and governor happen during the midterms. This year, there were 35 senate seats open for election.

Iowa citizens re-elected republican Kim Reynolds for governor and republican Charles E. Grassley for U.S Senate. Four republican U.S House Representatives were also elected from Iowa- Miller-Meeks, Hinson, Nunn, and Feenstra. Iowa voters also added the right to keep and bear arms to the state constitution.
