It’s that time of year that we begin to wrap up the final days of the school year at Johnston High School and start planning for the summer. Fortunately, this summer, new seasons of TV shows are on their way to keep us entertained until the fall. Here are the top five anticipated shows this summer.
Ginny & Georgia – Season Three
This season will be coming out June 5, 2025. This show follows a mother and daughter, Georgia Miller, played by Brianne Howey, and Ginny Miller, played by Antonia Gentry. The mother and daughter duo navigate the struggles of trying to have a close connection after all the hardships they experienced in the past. Ginny is a headstrong character who holds resentment towards her mother, while Georgia is a very protective and complex character. This season, the duo will face their toughest battles. There will be emotional ups and downs and relationships will be tested.
The Bear – Season Four
This season will be coming out June 25, 2025. The show follows the main character, Carmen (Carmy) Berzatto, played by Jeremy Allen White, as he navigates operating his family’s small sandwich shop in Chicago. Berzatto is a talented young chef. Throughout the show, he learns how to process grief and his high emotions. He also discovers how to deal with financial uncertainty and his relationship with his colleagues. Berzatto’s colleague, Sydney Adamu, played by Ayo Edebiri, is also one of the main characters. Adamu is a brilliant and ambitious chef who will face a major career decision in season four. This show has it all, high emotion, incredible actors and authentic chaos.
Squid Games – Season Three
This season will be coming out on June 27, 2025. This will be the final season of the series. This Korea-based show follows Seong Gi-hun, played by Lee Jung-Jae, as he desperately joins a deadly competition for the purpose of hoping to win a cash prize. In the new seasons, it is expected that there will be more betrayals and even deadlier games. This show has been popular since season one premiered in 2021. If you’re looking for a new show, give this one a try!
The Summer I Turned Pretty – Season Three
This season will be coming out July 16, 2025. It will be the final season of the young adult drama series that follows a teenage girl, Belly Conklin, played by Lola Tung, as she navigates the challenges of growing up. Throughout the series, Conklin experiences a love triangle, figures out how to manage relationships, and discovers what it means to become older and mature. It’s a great show to watch over the summer because it takes place on the family’s East Coast beach house during Conklin’s summer vacation. This series is based on a trilogy by Jenny Han, who was also the author of To All of The Boys I’ve Loved Before. If you need a summer show to watch, give this one a shot!
Wednesday – Season Two
Part one of this series will be coming out August 6, 2025, and part two will be out on September 3, 2025. This show follows a gothic main character, Wednesday Addams played by Jenna Ortega, as she continues her adventures at Nevermore Academy. This season will dive deeper into Addams’ relationships and her character development. There will even be a new member of the family introduced, Addams’ grandmother. The producers have even said this new season will bring more horror elements into the series. The Addams Family is a classic and Wednesday brings just as many horror and comedic elements.
