Photo Issue
January 29, 2021
This year we have tried to do things a little different. Nothing is normal so why try and print something normal? For this cycle I challenged my staff to make and tell stories through the use of photos. I challenged them to learn about taking photos ranging from action shots to portriats and still lifes. We used photo ideas like leading lines and depth of feild in order to advance our photo taking skills and improve our skills as a paper.

Jordan Creek Mall: A Holiday Edition
Nothing was going to stop the holidays from happening. Not even the pandemic. As they say, the show must go on. So in 2020, holiday shopping had looked like it never did before. Shoppers had to follow COVID-19 guidelines (such as wearing masks, socially distancing, etc.) to ensure that the holidays do happen.
Though one thing that stayed the same was that malls still went above and beyond to welcome the holidays and make them as magical as possible. Jordan Creek Mall, for example, remarkably decorated their space. Everything screamed holidays, from the food court to the insides of stores.
A Lot of Cookies
My family always eats a lot over the holidays, especially Christmas. One of the main things we eat is junk food and dessert. The mint chocolate candy and peanut brittle are from Hy-Vee and the ice cream cake is from Baskin Robbins. Everything else is homemade, mostly made by my grandma. My grandparents have made the food for Christmas for as long as I can remember. Almost every year we end up bringing a lot of food home to eat as leftovers for the rest of the week.
Barnes & Noble in pictures
Barnes & Noble is a popular place for readers to visit. Its atmosphere is cozy and it has a vast array of media and genres to offer its customers. Along with its typical selection of books, the store also has a section for visual media and hosts its own Starbucks within the building. Customers can make a quick stop to find something specific, or they can spend an hour browsing with friends.
