Quarter-final Basketball vs Ankeny

Eva Wozniczka, Morality Manager

Our boys varsity team, seeded 3rd, won against Ankeny High School, seeded 6th. The final score was 55-53. It was a close game, but at the end of the 4th quarter we charged ahead and took the victory. “The team came back with a great energy and determination to win the game despite a subpar student section,” Declan Schuessler ‘22 said.

Free throws proved to be the deciding factor for us. The Dragons shot 20/22 from the free throw line (91%). Ankeny only hit 2/5 of their shots. Our top scorers were Steven Kramer ‘22 with 19 and Trey Lewis ‘22 with 18. In the regular season we shot 41% of our 3 pointers but last night only hit 26%.

Despite shooting worse than we usually do, we hustled and pulled through. We won and will be moving on to semifinals on Thursday, March 10th at 7:15 PM.
