Raising money to support and rappel
September 27, 2013
Junior Ben Poss was one of 67 people in the Des Moines area who raised over $1,000 in the Over the Edge fundraiser for the Special Olympics. The reward for each of them was to be rapelled the 345 feet off of the financial center downtown, which is one of the largest buildings in Des Moines.
“First when you lean back over the building it’s like ‘ooooh’.” Poss said. “Going down it was kind of fun because you could see all of the trees and buildings and stuff.”
Poss raised money by asking family, friends and Facebook friends to donate. Each person on average gave anywhere from around $25-$100 to the cause.
