Softball takes three big wins

The varsity and JV girls’ softball teams played their first games of the season Wednesday, May 28 against Ankeny. The Dragons pulled away with three big wins at home. JV played one game, then varsity followed them playing two games.

The JV girls finished the game early in the bottom of the fifth inning over the Hawks with a final score of 10-0.

The first varsity game ended in the seventh inning. Sophomore Haylee Towers pitched, only allowing three hits. The final score was 7-0.

The varsity girls’ ended with a second win as well, with final score of 6-4. Senior Sara Knee pitched the first four innings, followed by junior Shuda Jarbo in the fifth and sixth innings. Towers closed the game for the Dragons in the top of the seventh.

JV will play their next games at an invitational Friday, May 30 hosted by Ankeny Centennial. Varsity will play next at Southeast Polk, along with JV.
