The Johnston Cheerleading squad competed at state on Saturday, November 6. Johnston was in the 4A division and they placed 8th out of 13. The state competition was held at the Iowa State Fairgrounds inside the Jacobson Exhibition Center. This year’s competition was held hybrid as opposed to last year being entirely virtual due to COVID concerns. More than 80 schools participated and 35 more submitted their videos virtually. “It was nice being with my teammates and being out on the mat.” Alexis Pfalgraf said. For Pfalgraf what she enjoys most is the atmosphere, “You get to see friends from other schools and support them.”
