Supreme Court Declines Business Mask Mandate

Theron Luett, News Brief Editor

On January 13, 2022 the Supreme Court blocked a requirement from the Biden Administration to set a national mask mandate for larger businesses that employ 100 or more employees. This means that large businesses would require employees to be vaccinated or regularly tested for COVID-19.

As COVID-19 cases continue to spike in light of the new variant, Omicron. The planned mask mandate would help regulate the spread of the new variant in the workplace. According to the Associated Press, the ruling against Biden’s vaccine mandate has left many supporting companies with concerns for their employees safety. If passed, the ruling would have also enforced school mask mandates across the country, including Johnston.
