Volleyball team upsets Ankeny

The number ten ranked volleyball team took on second ranked Ankeny on Sept. 2 and were left the court victorious. The team came back to win the first game after being down by ten points. They lost the second game, but proceeded to win the following two games.

“Each set had its ups and downs, and for the most part we had more ups,” head coach Richard Brooks said. The team won three games to one game. The team will play Cedar Rapids Washington on Saturday, Sept. 6.

“It was a long pre-season and it was great to finally get to compete,” Brooks said. “The fact that it was a major match-up for the first match made it even more adrenaline pumping.  It was a great win for the Dragons, but it will also serve as a great teacher as we move forward.”

Though only six girls can be on the court at a time, Brooks says it takes each team member’s effort to pull through with a win.

“Not everyone got a chance to be on the court last night, but the work the entire team did to prepare for last night was evident,” Brooks said.
