The Boys’ cross country team dominated at all levels on Saturday, Oct. 3 at the 4th annual Steve Johnson Invite in Waverly, IA. The varsity tied for fourth with Pleasant Valley, and lost to three of the top 11 teams in the country. The JV won their race by nearly 24 points and the entire team won the Top Overall Team award. This takes into account how both, the JV and the varsity, did at the meet.

Yohana Yual ’21 ran one of the top 10 times in Johnston history with a 15:44. Yual placed eighth overall. Carter Borwick ’21 followed him with a time of 16:04. This was good for 25 overall. Carson Stanley ’21, Matt Borgemeier ’21, and Nathan Kellar ’21 came in as a pack after Yual and Borwick. Stanley placed 43 with a 16:29, Borgemeier placed 44 with a 16:30, and Kellar placed 46 with a 16:32. To round out the top seven Aiden O’Connor ’23 placed 51 with a time of 16:38 and Carter Eckhoff ’22 placed 73 with a 17:11.
