In the first game of the boys football season the Johnston boys came out swinging, flattening the Urbandale Jayhawks. Johnston who went 7-2 last year in the regular season and made it to the playoffs, is trying to repeat their previous success. Johnston in the first half scored 3 touchdowns meanwhile shutting Urbandale out. In the second half they were a little slower only scoring one touchdown. Even though they lost a lot of big players like starting QB Andrew Nord ’19 and RB Anthony Coleman ’19 the dragons have seemingly sustained their ability from last year with big contributors from seniors Alvin Brisbane and Jordan Rusch.

Even though the Johnston boys won this game you have to wonder if the low passer completion rate isn’t a good sign, Noah Storts ’22 the starting quarterback had more rushing attempts than completed passes. While this did not affect the dragons outing against the Jayhawks, a team with a more dominant anti-rushing defense might be able to abuse Johnston and systematically tear them apart.
