The boys’ and girls’ JV cross country squads battled the heat and other metro schools for their first invitational of the season, with the girls 11/12 to earn fifth, while 11/12 boys took fourth overall. Finishing with second place were the 9/10 boys and the girls’ finished fourth overall. The meet took place Sept. 5 at Urbandale High School.

With temperatures pushing in the 90s, the runners had to battle throughout. “Every meet we always come together as  team,” junior Jessica Bigelow said. “Even if it does reach 90 degrees, we’re supportive and encouraging of each other.”

The next upcoming meet takes place at Camp Dodge on Thursday, Sept. 10 starting at 4:30 p.m.
