The dance team performed at the spring show last showcase Sunday, March 10 in the big gym at 6 p.m.
Admission was $5 per person to attend. Proceeds helped pay all of the costs of the dance teams costumes and other fees throughout the year.
The spring showcase is a dance performance put on by the varsity, junior varsity, and eighth grade teams to showcase what they have been working on all year.
All dances from this season were performed.
“We didn’t cut any dances because we only had seven this year,” sophomore Karli Killian said. “But we did have to relearn a few dances that we hadn’t done since football season.”
The showcase lasted about an hour.
“It was exhausting to perform all of them, but really emotional also because it was the last time this team would ever be dancing together, and we became extremely close this year,” senior Steph Phillips said.
Dance coach Jaque Butzke choreographed some of the varsity dances from the football and basketball seasons. The JV dance team coach Ashley Scaubroeck choreographed the hip-hop. The dance team also hired choreographers for their jazz, lyrical and pom dances that they used at state and nationals.
“The showcase was the most fun performance because we didn’t have very much pressure put on us because we weren’t competing for anything,” Killian said. “The show was also sad because it was the last performance for our seniors on the team.”
Killian enjoyed the performance.
“It felt good to perform our dances for the last time and to end the season doing all of our dances one more time as a team before we have try outs for next year and our team changes,” Killian said.
This was an emotional performance for the seniors on the team.
“It was bittersweet to perform for the last time,” Phillips said. “I’ll miss this team, but I had a great five years dancing and will always remember my time spent with them.”
