Dessert

Dessert

I may be a bit biased because of my love for sugary treats, but that will not stop me from saying that Dawin’s new song “Dessert”, from the album Dessert, is not half bad. While this song could be labeled as generic, this time there are a lot more positives than negatives. If you are open to pop music, this might not blow you away but there is no harm in giving it a try.

First off, the song has two versions. One with Dawin only, and one featuring Silento. This is actually a really good thing, because this gives viewers more freedom to find what they like. Surprisingly I like the version with Silento better just because it is less repetitive, and I think it has more creative lyrics. The words are a mix of sweet compliments and cute rhymes with a few small beat drops in the chorus. Drops that a hardcore dubstep fan would call weak. Yet, you can appreciate that the song is not trying to be too over the top. It was nice and simple just like the song.

Overall the song is just kind of average, which I don’t think is a bad thing. I would have thought differently if the song tried to imitate other artists, and be overly “gangster”. That is why I give this song 3.7 stars out of 5. It may not be amazing, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be enjoyable.
