Dragons defeat Ankeny Centennial in play-off blowout

The Dragons’ varsity football team beat Ankeny Oct. 29 in their first playoff game of the season. The final score of the game was 34-6.

The Dragons were able to pull ahead early in the game with a score of 17-0 at the end of the half. The Ankeny Centennial Jaguars remained scoreless until the fourth quarter, scoring one touchdown. They did not score the point after touchdown because senior Hezekiah Applegate blocked the kick. Applegate also obtained one sack during the game.

Junior T-Boy White contributed a total of 18 points to the Dragons, with a total of 103 rushing yards for the game. Senior Jon May scored six points on his run after intercepting Ankeny Centennial’s pass, and senior Tommy Zinselmeier scored 10 points kicking.

The next play-off game will be against the Valley Tigers Nov. 3 at Valley High School.
