The fine arts program wants students to donate 300 boxed, canned or any non- perishable food items that can then be taken to the Des Moines food pantry. Last year the group, consisting of vocal, instrumental and art classes, donated 250 items to the pantry.
Three years ago art teacher Daniel Weiss wanted photo club to be more than an after school photography club. “We have so much and want to donate to those who don’t have enough,” Weiss said. Nate Ostiguy, senior and head of photo club at the time, thought a good way to give back to the community was to start a food drive.
The drive will start in May and continue until the last day of school. Any generous donations can be taken to the art, vocal or instrumental music classrooms.
