Heavy Is the Head

Heavy Is the Head

When thinking of Zac Brown Band immediately country music pops into mind, however the group dabbles in the rock genre with song “Heavy Is the Head”. Now obviously there is still country influence with the heavy instrumentals but overall the gruff chorus vocals and instrumentals bring that signature rock stamp into the song. Though it’s not on the heavy side lyrically, the guitar riffs and steady drum beat make up for it and turn the song around. Compared to the rest of the “Jekyll + Hyde” album, this track stands out with the rock aspect, their whole album not containing the normal country sound the world has stereotyped but it’s still present. Overall I’d give the song a 3.5 out of 5 just because of how much the band surprised me with their ability to turn a song into a seemly rock band’s song, not a country band’s.
