Hotline Bling

Hotline Bling

Why we like dancing to elevator music and burst out singing mediocre lyrics is a mystery to me, yet I’m still guilty of the following actions. Though the “Hotline Bling” music video has been ridiculed due to Drake’s awkward homecoming dance moves, somehow the melodic vocals and repetitive instrumentals behind them mesh together to form an addicting song. However if you actually look at the lyrics, the song it’s self holds no substance and is quite a snooze, plus if you take away Drake’s vocals hotel’s would be playing this on elevators everywhere. In this case the two unexceptional pieces fit to create a top of the chart song, so koodos to him. Overall if we really want to get down to the nitty gritty, in my opinion the track only deserves a 2.5 out of 5. When really analyzing the thoughtless lyrics and passive musicianship it’s really not substantial in any way shape or form. Otherwise it’s an entertaining enough song that I could dance to it and people would assume I was trying to be Drake, a great cover up for my cringe worthy dance moves.
