The Resignation of Superintendent Kacer

On Sunday, February 13, Dr. Alicia Clevenger, Principal of the Johnston School Board sent out an email to families announcing  Superintendent Laura Kacer’s resignation. This decision will become effective at the next school board meeting on February 20, 2023.

” I am proud of the work that we have in place to meet the goals of our Strategic Plan, and I look forward to finishing the school year leading and supporting the work of JCSD…The challenges of working in public education are many; however, the talented and dedicated JCSD educators and staff, coupled with our community support, make JCSD a great place to be.” Kacer stated.

The board thanked Kacer for her “commitment to the district,” and “wishes Mrs. Kacer well in her future endeavors and plans to begin, immediately, with considering its next steps in the process of selecting the District’s next superintendent.” Clevenger stated.

Clenvenger assured transparency and collaboration with the district as the board undergoes the transition.

“The board is committed to gathering your input and continuing to foster our vision of creating a culture of excellence where students come first.”
