Marching Band Recap

Marching band received fourth at Bands across the Prairie and Marching Dutch Invitational.

On October 5th the marching band attended Bands Across the Prairie in Cedar Rapids in the morning and The Marching Dutch Invitational at night. The band received fourth out of six at BAP with a score of 83.9. The band received 4th out of nine in Pella with a score of 76.

“I think as a whole the band did really well for the first competition weekend. It is always difficult playing on a new field for the first time but we were able to keep it together. Our music went really well and made a big impact. We just needed to clean up the marching. But I was quite happy with how we placed this weekend,” stated Sarah Wetterburg 25’

The band’s theme this year is Reflections. They have worked all summer into the school year to make their show the best it can be. Competition days are stressful and exhausting but they are a lot of fun for all involved.

“My favorite part is always watching the other bands play. There are so many fun show themes and good music, and I can really appreciate all the hard work that went into the show,” stated Wetterburg

The band will perform at Valley Showdown and Valleyfest on October 12th. They will also perform the following weekend at the IHSMA marching band festival in Waukee and The Mid-Iowa Band Championships in Ankeny.
