Swing, hit, show

The Never Say Can’t non-profit organization is in the beginning process itself, and also in the process of putting together a baseball showcase to give back to the community, and to honor student, friend, son and athlete Spenser Nelson.

Nelson passed away last school year, and now friends and family gather once a month to prepare the event which will be taking place on July 14, 2013, at the high school baseball field.

It will help freshmen and sophomores prepare themselves for future showcases as a part of the baseball recruiting process. College coaches will be there to guide the players and to give the showcase an edge, but there will be no recruiting taking place.

There will also be a community picnic, and a silent auction to raise money for the organization.

Friends of Nelson were encouraged to be a part of the planning, junior Bailee Nelson being one of them. “I think it’s great what they are doing,” Nelson said. “It will not only benefit those who love the sport, but help to remember a young man who will never be forgotten.”

A website will be up as soon as possible with more information regarding the event.
