The issue of having the turf replaced at the football field will be discussed at next month’s board meeting.
“We just have some questions with the company,” Athletic Director Gary Ross said. “It’s just going to be tabled until we find out more answers.”
After a period of time turf needs to be replaced because of wear and tear. The sun and other factors break down the turf fibers, so they need to be replaced.
The turf was installed eight years ago, and its warranty is eight years.
The cost for getting the turf replaced would vary around $300,000 to $400,000.
It would take about a month to get the turf replaced. During this time the stadium would not likely be open.
“As anything after it’s been used a while it needs to be replaced,” Ross said. “It’s not going to last forever.”
