One picture of three NFL players, the score, with the caption “this is the greatest picture of all time.” Not a game winning catch, not an interception, rather, the “greatest picture of all time” features three Tampa Bay Buccaneers players, the jersey numbers 6, 7 and 67 and the score reading “6” for the Buccaneers and “7” for the other team. 

Kids think it’s funny, parents think it’s inappropriate and teachers think it’s annoying. 6 ’7 became a trend in late 2024 to early 2025. It quickly caught fire and started being used among all ages.

“It’s really hitting the masses,” Carter Martin ‘26 said.

6 ‘7 became a joke that many people would make whenever they heard the numbers “six” or “seven.” If a teacher was talking about students getting into groups and said, “six or seven people in a group,” it would most likely prompt a couple students to say “six, seven” with hand motions or laughing.

Although when asked what the joke actually means, most people don’t have an answer. This is likely because of how fast the trend caught fire and adapted before people saw the root of the joke. This joke also stemmed on several social media platforms which are not used as much by adults.

“There was a basketball player, his name was TK, he plays for a AAU team called Rod Wave Elite, and it’s from a song called ‘Doot Doot’ (6 ‘7) by Skrilla,” Ryne Condon ‘26 said. 

The song repeats the lyrics “6 ‘7” and the song was used in basketball edits for basketball player LaMelo Ball who is 6’ 7 feet tall and in edits of basketball player Taylen Kinney who created the specific 6 ‘7 hand motion.

“The beat just drops and that’s when the edit starts,” Martin ‘26 said. 

6’7 rapidly grew into something that is used in everyday life and seems to be lasting a lot longer. 

“I think it’s a pretty funny joke that everyone does, you know. When you hear the number, you just go “six, seven” and people make a joke out of it,” Condon said.
