The boys’ and girls’ cross country teams dominated the state cross country meet Nov. 1, with the girls bringing home their first state championship title in history and the boys bringing home a third place title. The meet was held in Fort Dodge.

Among the many accomplishments both teams had, sophomore Patrick Bose contributed to the boys’ third place finish when he finished third with a time of 15:41.

Senior Jordyn Kleve finished second overall with a time of 14:14. This is the highest girls’ finish in Johnston history. Freshman Jessica McKee finished in seventh place with a time of 14:39. The girls’ finished 18 points ahead of Urbandale, the second place team finisher.

“I was just really proud of our team because I knew we could do it the whole season,” junior Anna Toot said. “We achieved our ultimate goal and it’s awesome because we put in the hard work.”
