Boys golf places 8th at state

The boys’ golf team finished eighth at the state meet last Friday and Saturday. The meet was held at Hunter’s Ridge Golf Course in Marion. The team shot an overall score of 655.

Team members included the following:

Senior Korbin Sesker, who shot an 82 and an 83 to end the season with 165.

Senior Jake Campbell, who shot an 86 and an 82 to end the season with168.

Junior Alex Burns, who shot an 84 and an 80 to end the season with 164.

Junior Sam Buckley, who shot an 85 and an 86 to end the season with 171.

Senior Jordan Kleinschmidt, who shot an 89 and a 75 to end the season with 164.

Senior Blake Singbush who shot an 84and an 89 to end the season with 173 .

“I didn’t start out on varsity but worked hard all season to get an opportunity to represent Johnston at State,” Singbush said. “It was a lot of fun putting on purple and gold for the last time, we went out swinging.”

The team is coached by Steve Smith.

Ankeny Centennial won its first state title, finishing with a team score of 620.
