Each year, the Purple Party plays host to many events, such as the Cake Walk. The cakes used are made by the Culinary 3 classes, who had a professional cake decorator visit their class to kick off the unit.

“They are used for the Cake Walk as prizes,” culinary teacher Jennifer Smith said. “[The students] aren’t going to eat them all, so we just donate them.”

Each group created their own cake with a theme, such as Batman. Seniors Keaton Rumor and Jeff Guttin worked on the Batman cake and tried to make black frosting to cover it with. “It looks more metallic grey, but it’s what we are going to have to go with,” Rumor said.

The cakes were given away during the Purple Party Jan. 31.
