Girls’ tennis defeats S.E. Polk

As a light rain began to pick up junior Emma Heiser goes after the ball. The team won 10-1 against the SE Polk Rams April 28.

The girls’ varsity tennis team beat S.E. Polk April  28, 10-1.

In singles match, Freshman Cari Naanep won in two sets 6-0 and 6-0. Sophomore Isebelle Hoppenjans won in two sets 6-2 and 6-4. Juniors Emma Heiser and Xiao Liu both won in two sets. Heiser won 6-4 and 6-0. Liu won 6-0 and 6-0. Senior Sabaritha Cander lost in two sets 2-6 and 4-6. Freshman Julia Heil won in two sets 6-2 and 6-0.

In doubles matches, Naanep and Hoppenjans won in two sets 6-4 and 6-0. Heiser and Liu won in two sets 6-2 and 6-2. Cander and Heil won in three sets 2-6, 7-5, and 10-5. Junior Megan Hartle and senior Sarah Frazier won in three sets 3-6, 6-0, and 13-11. Seniors Sammi Sobel and Savannah Boyle won in three sets 6-1, 5-7 and 10-7.

The girls will play again May 3 at Dowling Catholic.
