Heat creates havoc

Tonight Johnston will be hosting a volleyball game and a swim meet against Des Moines North. Because of the intense heat and the lack of air conditioning at North’s gym, pool and adjacent hallways, the two schools have decided to switch the location of these events to Johnston High School’s gym for volleyball and Summit’s pool for the swim meet.

“This has happened before,” activities director Gary Ross said. “If there was heavy rain and their field wasn’t playable, we would offer to have the game on our turf field.”

Both of these events will still take place today at 5 p.m., only their locations have changed.
