It was a very emotional race day for Johnston XC. They qualified for the National meet in Oregon for the first time in program history placing 2nd out of 26 teams with hundreds of athletes from 7 different states. Junior Alyx Woodley placed 13th with a time of 17:35 and earned a spot on the NXR Second Team all Region. Her speed broke a Johnston High School record set in 2015. They are the first team to represent Iowa since 2010.
Johnston JV Cross Country placed 12th overall in the Open Invitational Race. Here are some individual results:
- Payton Crabb – 40th place, 18:09
- Ele Wharton – 45th place, 18:12
- Audrey Dummermuth – 56th, 18:19
- Aubrielle Tousey – 109th place, 18:50
- Jayna Lamping – 141st place, 19:10
- Lexie Wisham – 166th place, 19:23
The team will compete at Nike Cross Nationals on December 7th, 2024, where they will run against the nation’s top teams.
