Volleyball advances to state

The volleyball team won its match against Valley Nov. 5 to qualify for the state tournament  Nov. 12-15. The girls won all three sets 25-18, 25-20 and 25-20. “I kind of envisioned what it would be like to win that game beforehand, and it came true,” junior Hayley Dotseth said. “We were all so excited.”

Head coach Rick Brooks felt a sense of relief when they won. “Valley was an unpredictable team throughout the whole season,” Brooks said. “I was unsure what the turnout was going to be, but obviously I am very excited for the girls.”

The next opponent for the team will be Ankeny Centennial Nov. 12. “It should be a really good game,” Dotseth said. “We haven’t played them before in the regular season, so we don’t know what to expect from them.”

Brooks knows the team will have to play hard throughout the whole game against Ankeny Centennial. “They have a very strong player, Jaali Winters, who is a junior,” Brooks said. “Their team will build off of her, so we’ll need to be ready for that.”
