Bowling team places sixth at state

The girls bowling team placed sixth at the state meet on Tuesday Feb. 25. The meet was held during the day at Plaza Lanes in Des Moines. Junior Kelli Bormann was the top scorer for Johnston, bowling a 183 her first game and a 244 her second game with a total of 427. Bormann placed sixth individually.

“My goal for next year is to definitely make it to state again, and then place higher at state,” Bormann said. “I also want to improve my average from 192.”

Senior Tabitha Taylor placed not far behind Bormann with a total score of 417. Junior Monica Snyder was the team’s third bowler with a total score of 402, freshman Amber Reid had a total score of 363. Sophomore Rosie McAninch was not far behind with a score of 336. Sophomore Loyal Ulm bowled a total of 322.

“We all did pretty good for our first time at state,” Bormann said. “We could have done better, but I’m happy with how it turned out.”
