Girls’ and boy’s defeat the Indianola Indians

The girls’ and boys’ basketball team hosted the undefeated Indianola Indians Jan.26. The girls were able to hand Indianola their first loss of the season, winning by a score of 71-52. The boys’ also cruised to an easy victory, winning by a score of 73-38. Senior Rachel Hinders led the way for the Dragons, scoring 18 points, and went a perfect 10-10 from the free throw line. After starting for the varsity boys’ team sophomore Camden Vader Zwagg established a large lead in the second half, he got to cheer on the substitutes, who played for most of the second half. “They cheer for us when we’re in, so we try to bring that same energy when they get in,” Vander Zwagg said. The two teams travel to Urbandale on Jan. 29 for a matchup with the rival Jayhawks at 6:15 p.m.
