Senior chosen to attend national conference

Nineteen students from Johnston were chosen to attend the National Council on Youth Leadership (NCYL) Sept. 18-19. Monday night, all the metro students gathered for the recognition ceremony.

Four students of the 220 were chosen by the NCYL board to attend the national conference in St. Louis at Washington University Oct. 15-18. One of them was Tara Djukanovic ’17. “I didn’t really fully understand it was me they were talking about,” she said. “I was excited.”

Djukanovic is excited to talk to experts on how to further human rights, an issue she specifically talked about in her application essay. “I knew I wanted to do something to help people,” she said. She hopes to use the national conference as a platform to further discuss those issues.
