Johnston hosted the annual show choir invitational, Showzam, in the high school gymnasium Jan. 20-21.
The middle school portion of the invitational was held Friday night, Jan. 20, where Impact and Sound Advice competed in the middle school and 9th grade categories respectively.
While awards were being calculated, the JV choir, Synergy, performed their set in exhibition.
Impact took home third in the middle school awards, and Sound Advice took home second in the 9th grade prep awards.
Varsity and JV choirs competed during the day on Saturday, Jan. 21.
Johnston’s varsity choir, Innovation, performed in exhibition before awards at the end of the day. The top six choirs then repeated their sets during the finals that night, where Urbandale’s Studio 2013 was named grand champion.
