Anne Rogers, Editor-in-chief

Anne Rogers is a senior who has been on the newspaper staff since freshman year. Her other activities include running on the cross country and track team, National Honor Society, the Student Ambassador program, and the National Council on Youth Leadership. Next year she plans to go to either University of Missouri or University of Kansas to study journalism and psychology. Her lifelong dream is to take a long walk on the beach with her pet squirrel Theo. Sadly, she cannot to do this in Iowa because it is surrounded by corn and grass and more corn. She daydreams of one day living by the ocean to fulfill her ultimate goal.

Team Litig8 is an all freshman team who made it to the state competition. It is made up of freshmen Will Gavin, Mark Nagel, Sean Reddick, Anika Schmitt, Harshini Abbaraju, Hailey Abbey, Kathryn Ikeda, Prakhyath Bujimalla, Andrew Janni and Jack Lucas. Four other teams made it to the state competition March 24-26.

Almost 200 ACT test answer sheets were lost in the mail, resulting in frustration with some students who had studied hard in order to get their scores up for college entrance and scholarship money. The answer sheets were found in a local grocery store and will be honored by the ACT organization.

Forward and captain of the USMNT Clint Dempsey is key for the team to advance in the World Cup. Dempsey shows incredible skill, which was obvious in his goal against Ghana in the first 29 seconds of the game. He also shows rare toughness, visible again in the Ghana match when he got kicked in the face, coughed up blood, and then returned to the field to play. Dempsey will need to execute the offense early in the game in order for the U.S. to pull out a win against Germany.
